Yes its that time of year again , I came out of the local mall yesterday and was faced with a yearly occurence , putting your loose change in the red kettle . Aaaaa , but I hadn't gone through my pocket full of loose change yet ,, what to do. Now considering that we sometimes get great finds in new change it is not a good idea to just throw your newly acquired coins into that pot with out checking it first. Now this was the first time this year I had to face the red pot so I was treading on new ground . OK, I'am no cheapskate so luckly I had some ones in my pocket and pushed them in the red kettle and walked away with a smile on my face thinking its a good time of the year to share with the rest of of the folks out there . You gotta admire those people out there collecting for the less fortunate , happy holidays folks .:thumb:
Its amazing how a lot of folks today are going through their homes and lifting up those sofa cushons and moving out those couches looking for loose change , you never know what kinda change you'll get from the stores these days , its a treasure hunt in progress
In 2011 a mystery guy was going around Dallas dropping gold eagles in. Turns out, this has been going on for years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_kettle
The same thing has been happening in my local area for many years also. Someone has been dropping a $20 double eagle in the kettle along with a note "In memory of Mimi". Here's a link: http://www.nbc-2.com/story/20291437/rare-coin-dropped-in-red-kettles-for-8th-year-in-a-row
