Hi guys, Some of you might remember last year when I posted my total number of finds from a year of searching rolls of Kennedy halves. Well, today I called it a year for year two. This time I kept better statistics. I searched more rolls but found fewer coins. Here are my totals: Rolls searched: 4,760 Coins found: 1964- 21 1964-D- 15 1965- 23 1966- 40 1967- 129 1968- 100 1969- 66 2002-D- 1 2003-P- 3, D 3 2004-P- 4, D 2 2005-P- 2, D 8 2006-P- 2, D 4 Kennedy Totals: 90% silver- 36 40% silver- 358 Proofs- 7: 1977, 1979 (2), 1990, 1992, 1998, 2005 Gold Plated Kennedy: 1974, counter-stamped Franklins- 12: 1951-D, 1953-D, 1954, 1954-D, 1959, 1960-D (3), 1962, 1962-D, 1963-D (2) Walkers- 1: 1944 Foreign: 2000 Ecuador 50 Centavos 2001 Mexican 10 Peso My last 350 rolls searched (8/30/06-9/25/06) yielded only one 40% silver Kennedy, so that helped kill my average, in total a mere 1 coin found per 11.695 rolls searched. Last year my average was closer to 1 per 8.65 rolls searched. I've decided to pass on year three- for now. I might start back up at the beginning of 2007- or if I start having sleepless nights due to no more roll searching. Good luck to all of you coin hunters out there!
The return per hour doesn't really seem very high. But, if you have the time, banks have the rolls. :goofer:
I've always said, that I don't search rolls to make money, that if I wanted to make money I'd get a job. I guess, now I have...lol
Were you checking for any varieties when sorting through the rolls? I imagine that would take a LOOOOONNNNNGGGG time when sorting 4,760 rolls.
I wasn't looking for say '74 DDOs or anything like that. Some guys do, I don't because I don't collect them. I did examine each of the coins, up until about the last 350 rolls I sorted. I pulled anything I felt was worth keeping. My list about sums it up.
