Any foreign coin experts have any idea where this is from? It's more of a curiosity than anything else, but I would like some info on it.
Hello, It's a Baht from the country of Thailand. Beautiful coin http://images.google.com/imgres?img...mages?q=thailand+baht&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&sa=N
Only Thai coin I have so far but if you have seen one you will probably recognize them after. It has King Rama IX on it.
Thanks for the info. Never would have figured that out on my own. I'm not much of a foreign coin collector and don't think I've ever seen any coins from Thailand.
He is one of if not THE longest reigning monarchs. The PEOPLE love him and I must say after reading a bio of him, I am impressed with him. Then again he had every advantage being king and all.
I'm really, really, really bad at Thai dates. Fiftypee easily dated the one in the other thread, so perhaps he'll spot this one and come to our aid.
BEN, I think I found it I was looking at the 2007 standard catalog of world coins. An on page1781 it says Y#81 50 satang =1/2 baht date 1957 aluminum bronze mintage 439,874,000
Here's an article about King Bhumibol Adulyadej; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhumibol_Adulyadej . By the way,we haven't seen you posting around here for a while,Antidote. How's things been over there in Osnabruck? Aidan.
Hi Aidan, things are going well. Still trying to complete my Poland-Estonia-Latvia-Lithuania-Livonia-Collection. Just got some nice old coins from Poland and Lithunia.
