Kennedy Half vs. Liberty Head Nickel - LOSER'S BRACKET

If you had to choose one or the other to collect, which would you choose, would you choose the Kennedy half or the Liberty Head nickel?

Liberty Head Nickel? Not a chance! Have you ever seen one of those nickels as pretty as this?

I wish this poll had an option for neither! I flipped a Kennedy Half to decide and it came up heads so I chose the Liberty Nickel.

 

I'll vote for Kennedy.

 

Chris, have you ever seen a Kennedy half pass as a counterfeit gold piece? History is why I voted for the Liberty Nickel... that, plus it's my favourite thing to collect, followed by shield nickels... which are GORGEOUS in XF or better states.

 

I won't argue that point with you, but it does make me wonder about something. How many of the true Racketeer Nickels dated 1883 with a reeded edge do you suppose still exist today? I know that there have only been two of the 2001-D Kennedy ever reported missing the clad layer. For that matter, how many Kennedy half dollars, in total, have ever been reported for the entire issue since 1971?

Despite the historical significance of the Racketeer Nickel, I still think the "copper Kennedy" is pretty.

This is probably the only poll where I'd choose the newer coin. I've never liked the Liberty nickel.

I had to vote Liberty nickel. I'm not overly fond of the kennedy though I own more of them (mostly 64s) then I do the nickels

Kennedy since they are more readily available without costing an arm and a leg.
