Hello CoinTalk, Whats your take on coin sorters they got some cheap ones now as low as 10.99. Any thoughts?
Depends on what you want to use them for. Sorting handsful of proof coins? No how, no way! Rolling the contents of vending machine coin slots? Best way to do it.
When did a coin become as such that it cannot be handled. Were they not made to be put in cash regersters and handed out to a customer for change. Do you see any cashers pick them up by the rims and place them gentily in the tills. Unless you are getting all your coins from the mint they have all been handled as regular coins. Even most at the mint are not handled with gloves and iv read the morgan dollars were even sholved into bags and ship in hard botton trucks to the banks where as most were thrown inside the trucks when loaded. A coin to anyone but a collector is money that is handled as such. We all want those coins that look as they have never seen human hands and a few do get to us but few and far between. HOW MANY HAVE HOPE TO FIND SOME COINS THAT WERE PICK UP NEW AND PUT UP LOST OR FORGOTTEN? We all have but few will be lucky enough to get them. So we will buy them from those that were lucky at a price that will not be pleaseing. I love coins with the history look and maybe its because in my days they were all the real coins we ever saw. I too love nice coins and cannot believe at the condition of some ive seen posted here. Its hard for me to think a coin that old can look that good as i think about how in change i had there was never a coin that looked that good. Ill bet you i have the less valued coin collection of anyone here but when i show them off iam as proud as anyone here and my youngest boy loves them. They are his no strings attached he can sell or keep that his choice i had my fun i found them thats about all any of us has done. To try to say its anything else is just wrong.
Coin sorters take $100 worth of change and turn it into $100 worth of change. Relax, slow down and smell the flowers my friend.
I would highly recommend a coin sorter ever since I got one I have done more pennies and I have found more notable dates like a 1859 Indianhead penny. Another good thing is they are faster than sorting by hand.
