I have been offered a pretty large collection of Indian head cents to purchase. The dates are from 1880-1909. 2100+ coins grades ranging G-VF. All dates are included. What's this worth? Anyone have an idea?

Well depends on the asking price but at g-vf with that date range I personaly wouldn't pay more then a few hundred dollars as most in that range worth an average of $1. Of course a few vg 1908/1909 "s"s would change that quite a bit, but is doubtful that you will find any of those. Personaly unless they were being offered at a great bulk price say $200ish I would probably pass. On the other hand I have seen rolls of IHs sell on ebay in the 80-90 dollar range (with 50 being about minimum) so you might in the end be able to turn a profit on them but I wouldn't count on it.

To me this sounds more like a roll buyer that is trying to sell off his leftovers after picking :D

It would be very difficult for anyone here to say how much it is worth without many more specifics.

However, this is a general guideline I would follow.
Assume they are all in "G" condition.

    1880-1886: $2 each
    1908 S: $40-$50 each
    1909 S: $325 each
    The rest: $0.75 each

In bulk like 2100 coins though, I would offer much less. In fact, I am not sure why anyone would want all the low value ones in good condition. Except for the copper.

I know those are the list prices Gbroke but lets face the fact that you can buy most of those 80-86s for about $1 and the rest (not counting the "s"s) in the .50c range in singles so in a major bulk buy like this I couldn't see paying out money in that range. Also as I implied above 2100 1880-1909 is not a collection it is more of a hoard or chaff pile left over after a hunter has cherry picked em.

Hi. Thank you for replies. All dates are there and I have an exact list of inventory. The only ones not included are the "s"s.

I was even going below list prices. But I agree with you.

At fifty-cents a piece you should be fine.

You might be surprised as to why. I know a gentleman who makes a fair living mostly from selling low end/value coins such as these. If one is willing to make the effort and take the time, such coins can be rather profitable.
