Just got around to ordering a roll of each today. Anyone finding anything interesting in the rolls, like 2 different S mint marks, etc?

  3. I am thinking of doing the same. Are you going to crack into them or leave them in rolls? TC

I've bought a roll of each one the day they came out thinking they would sell out. I could've saved 4 shipping charges though if I had waited  ... I think they are a pretty decent buy for only $8.95 premium on $10 FV with such low mintages. I'm leaving my rolls unopened until I see some sort of definitive premium trends one way or the other. I don't think I'm gonna do the 2013 though, but then again a lot of people might be thinking that and then the 2013 become the keys. It would kind of be similar to the first spouse series dwindling down each year because I see these S-circulation quarters as a series now, just my two cents.

I don't think the mintmarks would be different because they are actually added to the hubs, not punched.

Umm no got my acadia's about 3 months ago, they might be again availible on 12/15 but they have been released already. The chaco's I need still so hoping you confused those and the acadia's.

I found some moderately sintered planchets in the El Yunque 100-coin bag.

Well no more bags of the chaco's but I was able to order a roll of each of the ones i was missing. I'm guessing that you are refering to the "Silver" issue not the clad. You had me scared there for a minute thought I would have to go on e-bay and pay $20 bucks a roll....wait a minute......

I always open them to look for varieties and higher grades.

  12. statequarterguy

    statequarterguy Love Pucks

Yeah, I think they would have to change the hub. Have there been any mint mark varieties since the new process?

This is correct, the Chaco & Hawaii bags are sold out - as of today the Acadia bag shows available. I ordered now because it looks like the mint may not make anymore 2012's even though they said they'd be available for one year.

Yeah, you're hooked now - have to have the 2013's, but wouldn't mind seeing the mintages dwindle.

1.2m each of the 5 types is not exactly massive minting.

It is when you collect coins minted in the 100,000s.

    I call it massive minting.

I like this series but opted to buying one coin of each on the secondary market. I think these may be similar to the 1996w Roosevelts one day. Not rare by any means, but will cost you more to add one to your collection.

I bought 2 bags (200 coins) of each of the 2012-S issues which averages at about 35 cents per 25 cent quarter. Better than the roll price :rollling:

I used to buy the bags too – sold some of the early state quarter bags for crazy prices. But, many (including myself) feel, after inspecting the quarters, that the rolls have better quality coins, probably because they stopped banging into one another as soon as they were rolled. I’d say if you want higher grade coins and to speculated on sealed bags, buy both.
