Yes, I think I am gonna look for the larger ones myself. Also, it is my understanding the French versions are made of a more substantial metal.
Certainly not the reverse, but I thought I saw French coins using a similar obverse (I could be wrong).
Don't think there is a "French proper" coin with Minerva in exactly the same pose. But the French Republic 5 and 10 centimes Minerva type coins (1897-1921) for example were somewhat similar ... Christian
My focus is mainly on US coins these days even though the bulk of my collection by number of coins is actually foreign coins lol... Or to put it another way, my planned purchases are usually US coins, but my impulse purchases are quite often foreign coins. A lot of foreign currency too, especially anything with dragons on them.
Tahiti The best way to get this coin is to retrieve it from circulation. Preferably in change when purchasing a drink while you are enjoying the warm breeze & sunshine.
Old thread but YES. I collect coins from just about everywhere, but with a very heavy siding towards France. I have tons of Canadian and british as well, but French are my favorite. The artwork is stunning and the early 1900's 5 and 10 centimes are possibly the most beautiful coins ever minted. Plus je parle francais un peu. Here is an example of said 10 centimes.
