If given a choice of one or the other, which would you prefer to collect, the Jefferson nickel or the Washington quarter?

Now that's a lot tougher than your Lincoln vs. Roosie. I like both of these quite well, and just leaned Wash due to the silver. Crazy cool toning, too. However the way Jeff tones blue is stunning, and gbroke's pics make me swoon. Something about the way nickel's luster shimmers...

"None of the above." (Was actually looking for that option for Lincoln vs. Roosevelt -- dead presidents are boring.)

If I really had a choice, I'd rather collect Woodrow Wilson's!

It is purposely set up as an either or poll. Just pick the one you dislike the least if there is not one you'd actually prefer. Also, consider finances when doing this. One series might be more than you would want to spend. That could be factor in your vote.

Jeffersons are one of my favorites.

Quarters are great, but I'm learning to appreciate the Jefferson.

I'm for the Washington Quarter's. They have the Jefferson's beat by six years.

Should I start a poll whereby I ask: which do you prefer Washington quarters or Washington quarters?

I implore everyone who voted for Washington Quarters to view my registry set of Jefferson Nickels and reconsider.

quarter (standing liberty, washington, seated, state) to another quarter is apple to apple. you did it in every other poll.

I compared Lincoln to Roosevelt. I'll make the battle of the coins double elimination.

Jefferson's are currently my favorite series. The price of the coins is very affordable and the war years look great toned!

For the record, I voted for Jefferson based solely upon your collection, but I would still prefer to collect Woodrow Wilson's.

Jeffersons without a doubt. I like the older Washingtons and yes they are silver, but pre 1960 Jeffy's are very hard to beat appearance and luster-wise.

Somehow I thought this would be the closest vote of the polls you posted. Neither are earth-shattering designs. Other than a couple Washingtons that are really tough (and a couple Jeffersons that are sleepers - off the top of my head the 39D and 42D in gemBU as well as well-struck examples in the 50's) the vast majority of both sets can be had at reasonably low prices. They both have a silver run, they both have recent design changes. And both have some really really nice proof coins out there. For some reason early Jeffersons (38-50) and some of the proofs just speak to me more than any other modern-type coins do. I feel they are underappreciated and undervalued. The fact that so many nice early examples can be bought raw bodes well in my favor. ;)
