My first Ancient Coin- Anyone know what it is?

    Went to the local coin shop, he had just bought a bunch of coins and this was in there. Paid $15 for it, didn't think that was too bad for an old coin. Any information about it would be great, thanks.

    Yep its Roman emperor Licinius I ruled 308-324 AD,. minted in Cyzicus (present day Turkey) Reverse is Jupiter with an Eagle at his feet. nice coin.

    Extremely common Licinius for this type and mint. A nice example showing distinct legends and a clear mint mark. IMHO, $15 is a fair price for your coin.

    This is much nicer than what we usually see as the first ancient bought by a beginner and, at $15, quite reasonable. I hope you will do as well when it is time for #2. Licinius was an interesting guy.
