I just received confirmation today that NGC will, in fact, grade these medals produced by the Medallic Art Company in 1960. Each is about 4.5 ozs. of .999 fine silver, so they will have to go into one of their oversized holders.

That's what I love about NGC. They do what they can to help get cool stuff in a good holder.

Oh, sorry. Thought this was a Girl Scout cookie thread. Tagalongs happen to be my favorite......

Beautiful medals Chris. Man they're big!

I neglected to mention that the Santa Fe has a twin in bronze and both are 63mm. When I purchased them, they were in a Capital holder.

The Enterprise, also 63mm, supposedly has a twin in bronze, but I've never been able to locate one.

Good news! Thanks to one of my acquaintances on another forum, I was able to purchase the Enterprise "twin" in bronze, and it will be here in a few days. Now, both pairs will be in the same style/size holder.

    Chris,

First off, where the heck have you been posting to get 10k posts?

Second, what the heck are you thinking getting those beautiful coins slabbed? What am I missing?

Just curious & hope you are well...Mike

  9. Gorgeous medals, Chris. Almost a shame to entomb them. :D

Oddly enough, I just finished answering a similar question on another forum, but since I'm basically lazy, here it is......

No offense intended for sure as they are VERY nice.

I think we've had a few at the shop in the past actually.

    Thanks for the concern, Mike!

To answer your question about the 10K posts, you first have to understand that I don't believe that the number of posts someone may or may not have is any indication of their knowledge. To be honest with you, I would guess that at least 40% of my posts were accumulated greeting newcomers. It is my firm belief that a friendly greeting is just as much important to the "health and well-being" of these forums as knowledge.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the cut & paste -- that makes more sense now.

As for the 10k post thing -- I wasn't insinuating anything outside I don't recall you being that active over on this forum. But it could be I'm simply not paying close enough attention. :)

    Take care...Mike

Mike, I thought your comment was intended to be all in fun, but I felt that your comment came at a good time to inject my feelings about post counts. By the way, about the only thing I feel post counts are good for is when someone decides to hold a contest for a "post milestone".

We need to get more new members here because I want to get to 15K posts to hold a contest I have in mind. LOL!

    Nice medals.

I too will tag-along to the FUN show in January. I recently booked a cruise that gets me back to Florida for the show. I should be at FUN on Friday & perhaps Thursday as well. I hope to see you there.

Unfortunately, I will only be there Saturday to submit some medals and attend the NGC Luncheon.

Some really nice looking medals, I like the Santa Fe one. Would also like to see how the oversized slab would look, don't think I've seen one yet.
