Ok, so I have been reading up on this site about this coin fot over a week. But Im still not sure if I have a real coin. I know the real coins are supposed to weigh 12.44 but currently I have no way to weigh the coin. It seems to be made in a soft white metal. This coin is not silver.
No, not a real coin, some sort of poor copy. The detail is very crude and amateurish compared to the real thing.
Fake....and not even one of the better one. Remember they were using the same dies for the obverse as they did earlier in the year for the 1861-O halves.
That would be one expensive coin if real. Alas, I agree with the others who have suggested it is a crude copy. Here's an article on the coin and some common counterfeits: http://coinquest.com/cgi-bin/cq/coins?main_coin=1114
