Would a Grading Company Even Put This in a Slab?

    That is one ugly coin.

    I'd take it.

I think that thing was cast out of play dough. Not sure they slab play dough, but then they slab a lot of things just as silly, so maybe.

There are actually collectors who build sets of P-01 coins.

    I think this would get better than P-01. I'd say G-details; scratched/damaged.

Not the prettiest coin but I wouldn't mind owning it until such time as I can afford a better example.

This is FAR astray of my collecting area, but I do wonder if it's real or not.

If someone was going to fake this, wouldn't they want to make a much better looking fake?

Although the wear pattern looks kind of suspicious, but this may be because they tried tooling it in a futile effort to make the design at least distinguishable.

Or it may just be badly beaten up. I'd only pay slightly over gold melt for this (assuming it's genuine gold). Rare or not, it's not worth paying big money for; if I had that kind of money I'd rather get a nicer looking coin with it. I wouldn't mind owning this if it were real but only if I could get it relatively cheap.

Damaged or not I'd want it slabbed just so I would have the assurance that at least it's real. I wouldn't want to risk money on this auction for a coin that might not be real and is pretty ugly looking even if it is.

I dunno, there is a lot about that coin that matches up to the genuine details and diagnostics. But there is also a lot about it that does not match up to the genuine details and diagnostics. And the extreme wear would not explain that away.

There are 8 different varieties of the 2/1, this one would be B-D 2-F if it were genuine, the second most common of the 8. An R5 with 50-65 known. But honestly, I wouldn't go near it with a 10 ft pole.

I like how he advises people to search for values on PCGS authenticated coins of this type, but this isn't a PCGS authenticated coin.

I sent a question on who the NUMISMATIC PROFFESIONAL was that authenticated the coin.

What bugs me the most about the listing is that the seller states that Liberty is wearing a turban. It's a phrygian cap!

Accugrade's only question would be "Do you want an MS70 slab or a PF70 slab?"

BTW ugly as it is, I've seen worse!
