That is a good proportion, I think (if you compare the diameter of the coin and that of the central hole). The later holed coins from Spain, the 25 pesetas issued in the 90s, had holes that in my opinion were too big. Or the coins were too small for the holes. I mean, most of those 1990-2001 coins were circulating commems, and the artists were good at arranging the design elements around the hole (see here for example), but it would have been nice if there had been more space. :)

    I agree with you.
I think in Spain there are three coins with hole: 25c 1927, 25 pesetas 90's years (different types) and 50 centimos 1949-53

This was minted in Paris for Laos, seems the hole was put in as an after thought. :D

Don't have a coin with a hole (at moment) but I do have 5-6 nifty phone tokens from when we made port in Israel. these were nifty, they have a notch in them an a hole. The coin slot on the phone has a tab to one side to prevent the insertion of unslotted coins. Guess they were getting to many slugs :D

Looks like a mass produced souvenir, but I may be wrong.

Sorry for the size difference, they are two sides of the same coin.

Here is a 5 kroner coin (image: Danish Mint) from Denmark. The 1 kr and 2 kr coins are in the same style. The other three denominations (50 øre, 10 kr, 20 kr) do not have holes.

In Norway it is similar: Of the four denominations (1, 5, 10, 20 kr), the first two have a central hole.
