The US Mint has confirmed that circulating quality "S" qtrs will be offered for 2013. http://mintnewsblog.com/2012/11/2012-s-hawaii-chaco-culture-quarter-100-coin-bags-sold-out/ The remaining 2012 “S” rolls will all be gone soon ! This is so cool : The U.S. Mint will continue minting national park qtr design variety's :bart:
It was originally intended to be a one year thing, but they found that there is money to be made. I've got the 2012s in rolls, but won't be buying any more, unless they come in the uncirculated sets.
This is exactly what happened with the silver proof sets; they were originally meant to be a one-time thing (to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Philadelphia Mint) but they were so popular they made them an annually recurring thing ever since.
Sure I've heard about 2010 and 2011, I even lived through them. What about them? If you are asking will they go back and strike 2010 and 2011 S business strike quarters the answer is no. To do that would require new legislation from Congress.
A mint set of the five quarters should be issued, either as part of the current P- and D-mintmarked uncirculated set of separately. I will buy the 40-coin rolls if this is the only way to obtain these coins. In a related vein, do expect some kind of specially mintmarked coin for the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy half. It was done in 1996 for the Roosevelt dime with a 1996W, expect something similar for the half dollar.
Maybe; but so far the Roosevelt dime is the only coin they've ever done this for. A single coin is not enough basis to establish a pattern. 2014 would be the 50th anniversary of the design, and 2017 would be the 100th anniversary of JFK's birth. Either would be a good year to do something special with the Kennedy half.
