Will let the error experts chime in but it very well could be... it has some wear but to be worn down enough for the date to almost disappear, L and Y in Liberty to fade, In God We Trust to be basically completely gone, there should be a lot more wear on Washington's portrait I think. Would help to see the reverse too. But yeah I'd say I'm like 90% sure this is an extreme example of a grease-filled die, if it's not just wear or PMD.
I think grease filled die as well what does the reverse look like? Wear that severe would certainly be evident on the rim...
Here is a photo of the reverse, it has four die cracks and, I also noticed on the obverse, there was one die crack. I also included a photo of the edge.
