I may buy these but am not sure of their worth....any comments would be welcomed. I just like these type errors to add to my collection but do not want to over pay. Thanks
I'm not a penny expert. If the 2000 coin is of the wide 'AM' variety, it's worth a couple buck, but it's also damaged were the 'WE' is scratched out. As for the 1944 D, it doesn't appear to be of the D over S variety. Just one amateurs opinion.
I should have added what is up with the coins and the pics may be not clear enough. The 2000 cent is a die chip where the "we" is, and the 1944 has a cud (?) on the forehead. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
A die chip would be raised up off the coin so if its sunken in its not a die chip, yours looks to sunken in but hard to tell from the photos.
The 2000 is definately a WAM. The WE area could be struck through but I lean more towards damage. It's hard to tell from the pictures. I would stay away as you can find decent examples of these by searching bank rolls or you can buy nice MS red examples for cheap. The 44-D is a die crack and worth the going rate for a wheat, e.g. 5 cents. Die cracks are common and generally not collectible unless they are significant/interesting.....and that is VERY rare.
