I bought this one today for 150 (and am pleased even if I overpayed) . I have no idea what it is worth, but I thought it was very nice. I feel it would grade a 64 rb, and would like to hear some of your opinions!
Nice pickup Zaneman:high5: I'm on the road so I don't have my reference books but if no one helps you tonite I'll try tommorrow.
It's amazing Zane! Gives me hope for my UNC RB Lincoln cents. How can a copper coin stay untarnished for 250 years? That looks like original luster to me but you're the expert.
That duit is in fantastic shape if authentic...It would be worth more than any other I have seen for sale at vcoins and those ranged from a few dollars to maybe 30-40 dollars for coins quite a bit worse for wear...some hardly readable...all showing age and wear....this looks right off the mint.
Zaneman, that is a very nice West Friesland copper 1 Duit.I've never seen these with lustre at all before. Aidan.
That's an amazing coin. I can't contribute diddly to the grading, but I know it's from Enkhuizen. The mintmaster's last name was Knol, Dutch for turnip, so I guess he couldn't resist using a turnip as his mintmasters mark.
Zane - do you have this coin in hand and can you post better pics of it. I've been hesitant to attemp a grade because I'm not really sure.
Doug, I don't have it yet, as I purchased it from someone in Sweden. I will definitely post better pics within the next week or so when I receive the coin.
I found one in Panton Vermont. It was under the floorboards of a 1700s barn. Considering where I found it and knowing it was there a long time, the condition is pretty good. I was able to identify it. It blows my mind.
