    Picked this and 2 other Canadian quarters at melt. The other ones have cougars on them? Just silver value coins? image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

    Let's get serious here; in 2011 Krause, 1918 25c:
    VF = $12.
    XF = $26.
    0.925 silver but that's immaterial.

    how was i not serious? i have never paid over spot for ANY foreign silver, if anything you pay a little under melt because it is hard for a lot of dealers to get rid of. there is a reason why the OP paid melt for the coins. there is always the possibility of getting more on ebay though

    I was not implying YOU were not serious, I was merely surprised that no one had looked the coin up and discovered it is worth way over melt. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

    I think, given the recent appearance of "trolls" on the site, many people aren't responding to these posts. BTW, OP, you can find the value of foreign coins at ngccoin.com if you weren't aware.

    As a side note, coin is HARSHLY cleaned, so it's probably "worth" half of whatever the VG/F price that's listed.

    ok, and it is only worth more then melt if somebody will pay for it, which again in the united states is fairly unlikely.

    "Half" of the VG-F price ($4) is 20% below melt...

    I don't know if that statement is really accurate. There are many foreign coin collectors in the US...not as many as US coin collectors, but there are plenty. You just have to find them. I collect foreign coins, but Canadian coins aren't my personal area of interest. However, this coin does appear to be harshly cleaned. Even though it's worth more than melt in VF...with the cleaning, it might equalize things.

    perhaps it is my area then? with the exception of a few third reich coins i have never seen or paid more then melt for foreign coins.

    I dont understand why its so bad to clean coins as long as you still have patina

    Harshly cleaned, but VF-30 details. Still worth a decent amount over melt. Should be able to get at least $10 (double melt) for it.
