Hi, I have this coin token. Here are some relevant websites: http://www.coins.nd.edu/WashToken/WashTokenText/1795a.html http://images.goldbergauctions.com/php/lot_auc.php?site=1&sale=10&lot=88 http://www.pcgs.com/Cert/21727861/ http://stacksbowers.com/Auctions/AuctionLot.aspx?LotID=356726 http://stacksbowers.com/auctions/AuctionLot.aspx?LotID=258971 Diameter: 33.25 mm I would like to ask. Is this coin counterfake? Can someone determine what grade is it? Someone here on the forum told me its worth over $1,000 (http://www.cointalk.com/t217088/). Coin dealer in my small city thinks its not possible. But he is not selling USA coins much. I don't know what to think. Thanks!
I'm thinking it's a medal, not a coin. Posting the weight and size would help get more info. A pic of it next to a coin might help.
Middlesex 243 listed as R (rare). Just offhand I'm not seeing anything just right out at me that says fake. A weight would be nice. As far as value, if it is real then I think $1000 would probably be low. This british token/medal tends to be rather popular and sells for more than their rarity would normally justify because it is also listed in the Redbook.
Digital kitchen scale shows 19 or 20 g. I don't know the exact value. I will have a better value on monday. Can someone give here a info about this token/medal from Redbook? I'm not from USA and for me it is hard to find it. Found it only in World Coins Catalog. What grade it is? XF or better? I don't know about USA system of grading. Thanks for your help!
I got £1400 for mine ($2225.00) I paid £10 for a coffee jar full of coins from an antique dealer and this was in it. I noticed mine has the date on it and the bust facing the other way.
I think your was a Smaller "Halfpenny" Size token (http://www.coins.nd.edu/WashToken/WashTokenText/1795a.html). You made a really good buy! Found more information about my token (from PCGS):
