    I think the $1 is almost certainly a fake but the $2 1/2 looks to be real. As for value, around bullion content.

    I agree with Doug. The one dollar piece looks completely wrong, and the quarter eagle looks genuine.

    Same here. The color of the 1868 in the image makes me wonder about it's actually gold content. I'll guess the bullion value of just the 1879 is much more than you paid for the pair.

    The gold dollar looks a lot like a cast copy and probably isn't even really gold (or not the gold content a real one should have at least). Plus some of the denticles don't even touch the rim. The quarter eagle, not 100% sure it's real, but I see no obvious signs of it being fake, so I'll go out on a limb and say it's real.
