What error is this?

    Wandering what caused this penny to have the silver/nickel finish just around the obverse and reverse rims? Also the zinc scratch above the eyebrow on the obverse and along the columns in the memorial on the reverse all have the same silver/nickel finish. Hope the pics are good enough to show the details. Until I get my USB microscopic camera...these are the best pics I'm able to take. They don't really show how "silver/nickel looking" they are all around the rims but hope they help. Thanks in advance for any responses.

    I think is probably PMD of some kind.

    post mint looks like someone lightly sanded the rim

    The copper plate has worn off allowing you to see the zinc core.
