Looks like post mint damage to me. Squeezed against another coin very hard with a vice.

I would agree that it was dropped and left in the elements. PMD

I agree with the "vice job", but I'm curious to know what you think are dropped elements. The "D" on the rim appears to be the mintmark of the second coin.

Look to the right of TRUST you'll see a letter t,n and another letter.I am trying to recreate a pmd scenario with another coin but it's not matching up,at this point most likely pmd. DSC08151.jpg

Can someone tell me where did the N on the rim and the T below it just to the right of trust come from, could this have been a dropped element coin before pmd occurred. Side 1.jpg

These couldn't possibly be dropped elements because the font doesn't match up with any of the fonts used on the actual coin, obverse or reverse. The only font that even comes close in height is the "N" and "T" from MONTICELLO. However, you can rule those out because the legs of the "N" on the obverse rim are the same width as the diagonal. This isn't the case for the "N" of MONTICELLO. The same is true for the "T" on the obverse. The top crossbar is the same thickness as the vertical, but it isn't on the actual coin.

No, I think it is all PMD. Whoever decided to produce the "sqeeze job" continued playing around with some other coin or tool to produce those letters.
