You do plenty of dimes, your bound to find a gold plated. Why would anyone do that you ask? Prob came from a set they sell on HSN or the like and they charged someone a $1 for it. I'd prob keep it just to have it. Does anyone keep gold plated halves. I wonder if you could sell them on ebay or CL for a small profit.

Yeah, I kept the dime just for the curiosity of it. I can't lie though, I was hoping for a quarter eagle like others (*cough*darchangel*cough*) have found!

That would be nice, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Another thing is people finding gold rings in the reject, how the heck does that happen?

I'm friendly with they guy that services the coin counter at my dump bank, so I got a look in the bucket of junk that has jammed the machine. The most alarming items are the DOZENS of .22LR rounds. The stuff that gets dropped in to a coin jar is amazing. I don't find much for rejects though, my machine tells the customer multiple times to check the reject tray.

Picked up two boxes of Nickels from my pick-up bank. I was so excited because it's been about a week since I've gotten a box. However, both boxes were FULL of 2012-P nickels. :( Guess I'll visit a few banks afterwards and try to swap them out.

I don't do nicks but I do dimes, LY I got box after box of solid 2011P dimes. This year, I never got full boxes of 2012P dimes, just solid rolls in each box and strangely I was still finding silver in those boxes.

I just got a gold plated roosie on Sunday. Yeah, I did kinda have that feeling of "no way, lightning cannot possibly strike twice." Sure enough, it didn't.

2 boxes of BWR of halves; Box #1= Pepe LePew. Box #2 = 1,40%.

    From Bouvier's Law Dictionary:
The word "UNALIENABLE" - The state of a thing or right which cannot be sold. The word unalienable mean that which cannot be liened or separated from you. These rights cannot be taken from you by force. You cannot even voluntarily relinquish them. You cannot in any way surrender or lose an unalienable right.

Heads up; Some changes are coming down for " Coin value on line". I'll post the info as soon as I get it. Thanks:devil:

Man, between the storm and the election (I work in government/politics) I have had literally 0 opportunity to search coins since October 27th, so I think my hopes of hitting 150 ozt of silver this year have been dashed. I think I'm finally getting back into the game, picked up some nickels/dimes. Feels good to be back!

Unfortunately the penny arcade near my house was destroyed by flooding, so I don't have a super-convenient dump bank anymore. Luckily there are like 30 TDs near here, so I'll make do until it gets replaced!

It was from a bank wrapped roll, which I was glad to see because it means sometimes they still get through whatever machines are used.

    Nov 13, 2012 Half dollars

Half dollars started out miserably today, got much better, then got great!

I asked a teller if she had any half dollars and she said no, so I just got $10 in nickels. When she opened her drawer to get the nickels, I saw about a dozen half dollars in her tray...and 6 or so were silver! And they looked like 90% silver coins! So I said, "Aren't those half dollars?" and she said "Where?" I said, "In your drawer." to which she replied a sharp "No!" and that was that. I left a little disappointed!

But I went to another bank and was pleasantly rewarded with 12 silver half dollars, including 6 1964's! The teller was so happy to get rid of them she said, "You want all of them? Great! You're my best customer! My best customer ever!" I was happy! Here they are plus a few more (6 1964's and 9 part silver altogether):

I thought that was pretty good, but the best was still to come. I found another bank with $55 in half dollars in a plastic bag. I said I would get them all, and the teller started to count them out into piles of 10. Right away I saw (and heard!) a part silver half dollar. "Great!" I thought, "At least I'll get something." I saw almost all the coins as she counted them out. While I did not see any more silver, I heard silver at least twice more. I got back to my car and took the first handful of half dolalrs from my pocket. A Franklin! And a couple of 40%ers! Three more handfuls later and I had a 1945 and 1946 Walker, 1951-D, 1952, 1953, 1954-D and 1961-D Franklins, and 5 40%ers. How cool is that! Here they are:

Best part of all: the teller said she gets halves from time to time and to just call her to see if she has more!

Pretty rough copper penny rate, simpsonfan. When I've done pennies I've usually found 20% to 30%.
