Ok pardon the odd subject, it wasnt my idea to call them woodies. OK, so I have somewhere around 70 Wood grain pennies, all with varying degrees of the grain, most are obvious but some you really have to look and get the light just right. Has anyone ever found a way to see the grain better while looking, like maybe a UV light, or a specific light of some type. I will try a Black light UV light, maybe itll do the trick. Someone has to have found something since it s change in the metal mixture. Also when Photographing these, what would be the best way, the grain is so hard to capture.
ok, so UV black light does not work what so ever, but it does work to illuminate every white object in my room, reminding me of laser tag, ahh fun times
what about specific lighting, i have an over head tube lamp (soft light) and an adjustable arm lamp 40 watts. no matter what I do, its nearly impossible to get a correctly lit image, either lit to much on one side or another.
Yeah very hard to comment on this and NOT crack an improper comment (it's hard to be a good weasel some days)
I would agree with that assessment assuming the coin's mint luster mellows and the "wood" toning starts to contrast between dark and milk chocolate colors
