This is as much to test my ability to get decent pictures of coins (got a new camera and seeing if it will work for this) as to show this coin off. I'm the original owner of this coin, and bought it when it first came out, when I was 10 years old and just getting into coin collecting. When I renewed my interest in coin collecting a few years ago, I submitted this to be graded (yeah I know this coin is worth less than what it costs to grade so don't bother pointing that out lol...) mainly to see what the grading process was like, and partly because I long since lost the original box this came in (halves were, and still are, put in rather flimsy packaging) and the plastic capsule it was in was badly scratched and chipped. Submitted it to ANACS; feel free to guess the grade if the pictures are good enough (I'll tell you what it graded after about say, a page worth of replies, or about three days, whichever happens first). BTW feel free to critique my picture-taking technique; I think this came out OK but is a pain to get it to focus on something as small as a coin, especially through a slab. P.S. Been gone from the board a long time; busy with other things and not had the disposable income to actively collect anyway. But it's great to be back! P.P.S. Yes those scratches appear to be on the slab, not the coin itself. If the pictures aren't good enough to guess a grade feel free to say so lol... I can take it. Constructive criticism on my photo technique would actually be appreciated. I think they came out pretty good considering, but I've seen better.
I love the set this came from. I remember a few years ago I saw the gold coin from this set in the Red Book and immediately thought, "I HAVE to have this!" I ended up liking all the coins from this set. The picture-taking is pretty good considering it is in a slab. Good work and nice coin!
Pr68DCAM would be my guess. I collect the series in MS for the half dollars and working on the gold five dollar coins in MS69 as a stash of bullion.
Might be the fault of the picture, but I can't find any spots on the actual coin. Frostyluster got it right on the first try; ANACS graded it PF-69 DCAM. I'm going to play around with the camera to see if I can get better pictures; it shows the detail well but the reflections make it tricky to judge. Got a few new coins that I want to try out; they're raw not slabbed and may come out better. And thanks all, great to be back!
