Since the first thread quickly degraded into a humorous Morning Wood thread with no actual merit, I decided to restart another with a more serious plan. Does anyone know of any way to visually enhance the wood grain on Woodie Pennies, not physically but using light or a specific camera filter, of program, just so showing that a penny has such grain. Since i have almost 70 of them, i wouldnt even mind trying a chemical, just for fun, kind of an experiment. This time around only serious comments, the comical name given to these pennies might be laughable but this thread is serious, thanks
Sorry man. :bangg: Ken started it. :rolling: Here is a thread you may be interested in started by the expert BadThad: http://www.cointalk.com/t65353/ :smile TC
I am trying not to laugh, but cannot keep a straight face. I don't know about the other thread, but I can only imagine. I am no expert, but try playing with (and I mean that seriously) the light source (direct and indirect and intensity) to enhance the wood effect in pics.
Wood grain is very common for Canada Large Cents in the teens (George). You find about 10-15% of them with some woodgraining, and about 10% of those are fully patterned and very neat. With large coins like that (about Sac dollar size) they really shown up nice. The nice thing about them is that you can pick up XF's for $2 or so.
Lighting is the key. You have to play with the angle and the distance from the coin. What type of camera and lens are you using?
