Heres my 1879 IHC my dad received it from his grandmother before she passed away and he handed it down to me. I was just wondering if it will grade and if it will what that grade might be. (It's not graded, its just in the NGC plastic insert) And sorry about the second picture being darker then the first, they both have the same appearance as the obverse does. And the word 'UNITED' is doubled (It is easier to see in hand). I tried to do my best to photograph it but its kind of hard to see. I was wounding if this was some type of error of DDO. Thanks -Kyle
It's in a previously cracked out slab casing (it's not graded yet). But the coin has a possibility of ending up in a details holder... thats why I put it up, I either think that it is high AU, in which case I would send it in or AU DETAILS in which case i wouldn't send it in and save the grading fees.
Just a bit confused.....why the 'fingers' holding the coin? If it's not graded then where the devil did they come from?
I hole that cleared things up a bit. I picked it up for $10...... I just wanted to add one to my collection. Is that a good buy??? I never owned one before and it was the first one i saw in person so it was a must have.
You sure you're a YN? Picken' up an FE (any condition) for 10 bucks is a kudo. Devil you dear fellow. Still need one for my collection....
Yup! Im 15 and always try to get the best deals out there! I got it my local gold and silver shop and they have a bunch of them... Would you recommend that i but all of them if they are in that condition for $10? They have some pretty nice coins at the shop and if i could get a ride there more often and had a bit more $$$ then i would buy any coin that is on sale for a good price. There graded coins are fairly priced but all the raw ones are way underpriced
I've done some research in this,... would it be considered Longacre doubling because it is doubled on both sides of the letters??? And anymore inputs on what the grade might be???
And for $10 for an 1879 that is pretty good price in my opinion. Before running off and buying more I would recommend getting some books on them. If nothing else get the red book on IHC's.
I paid $10 for the FE. The IHC was a gift from my great grandmother. Inwas saying that they have a bunch of FE for around $8-20 depending on the condition
