About $40 in loose and cwr of halves... one 40%.

Also, I have noticed that my normal pickup bank chain has changed from brinks, clear plastic rolls, to dunbar, paper, rolls.

Today's results, if you can call them that:

    $2Pennies: 11 copper.

    $28 Nickles: 1957D

    $20 Dimes: Skunk.

    $170 Quarters: Skunk.

    $30 Half dollars: Skunk.

Coin return slot on the coinstar machine yielded 9 pennies, one dime, not old. And a 2cent Euro coin, Spain.

    Half dollars found 11/9/2012

I have to split today's finds into a few posts so I can put up pictures for each. I asked for half dollars at a bank today and wound up with none, but did get an interesting roll of nickels from the (not-so-friendly) teller. The nickels prompted me to go back for more nickels and a new teller said they had $100 in halves in the vault while the not-so-friendly teller tried to shush her. I bought all $100. Four rolls had nothing. 5 rolls had 2 40%ers at one end and 18 clad coins in the rest of the roll. The last roll had 5 40%ers all stacked at the top, then 15 more clad coins. I found 6 more 40%ers that day, for a roll plus one (that's 21!) 40% silver halves:

I like 'em! I think I'll keep 'em!

Here is the roll of nickels that started my day off right! How many times do you get a properly labelled roll like this one?

    2012-11-09NickelRoll.jpg

1938 - 1949! Key dates? War nickels? How many?

Here is what spilled out first:

    2012-11-09NickelRollBuffalos.jpg

Unfortunately, all five bison were dateless...and, while all the nickels in the roll were pre-1950, none of them were very interesting. Another roll with the same wrapper (again all pre-1950 nickels), did, however, yield a very worn 1943-P war nickel. So I went back to the bank to ask the teller if she had any more purple nickel rolls. She said "No." very curtly. When I asked her for more nickels anyway, she made sure to give me some out of a different drawer.

Anyway, that's how it goes. Nothing in the rest of the rolls. Believe it or not, I went back a third time later in the day thinking there might be pennies or dimes or whatever wrapped with the same account number scratched out. That's how I got the halve dollars above (from a different teller!).

    More from Nov 11, 2012

My day ended with 2 more war nickels (both 1944-P), a nice 1937-S Injun, 2 1938-S Jefferson nickels (two in one day from separate banks!) and a 1921-S Wheatie (that shows Lincoln with a cracked skull). That's 6 buffalos in one day out of circulation, a personal best.

I am thinking about giving a bank that orders from Loomis a shot... Thinking about ordering 4 boxes a week to see what I can find. I've never done large-scale orders from a loomis bank, the only boxes I ever got from them have been skunks. Maybe, like Garda, I just need to dig through the top layer of boxes and there will be some good finds...

$100 of Nickels: 1943-P and a 1938 (the '38 was hole filler in my backup book)

$20in CWR nickels, 2 buffs in the same roll, nothing else. One was a '35-S, fills a hole and leaves me 1 coin short of a later-date buff set from circulation.

    couple things

    1. on Tuesday I was coming home from voting and decided to pick up some rolls of halves on the way home, they didn't have any but they did have a roll of dollar coins. I thought about it and decided to take it, found a 1980-d Susan B. Anthony

    2. a box of pennies, 13 wheats, don't remember the exact dates but I did get a 1919-s. Canadians: 7, don't remember the dates. And I finally found a 2009 variety 1 no mintmark penny and am now one short from a complete set going all the way back to 1959
