I think, other than some obvious wear on the high points, it is a very nice coin. I would not kick it out of my collection.
Good job! X-ray tech, or any medical imaging could be a good fit for you. The pay is good, and if you can get into a bigger hospital/facility, the benefits can be good, too. A friend is retired from X-ray tech. She retired at 55 years old. She made good money and has a great pension with free health care insurance.
One of my mothers' friends is an X-Ray Tech, she was telling me $60k is a down year for her, lol. She's gotta be 50 or so by now.
There are many schools in IL. You might be able to do it in 2 years. Look into things like Pell Grants for tuition assistance.
Very nice coin Tim. Man, I envy you. I remember the first CBH I ever owned. It was a 1832, probably the most common date in similar condition to yours. I would stare at that thing, and take it out all of the time all the while not believing I could actually own such a thing. By the time I stopped collecting I owned about 80-100 of them, but not one of them EVER gave me as much pleasure as that lowly 1832 in VF gave me.
All the talk about (au vf or xf) I don't care but if you get desperate enough being without a job and all and might consider selling it get back to me , I may be interested I don't really collect these but the picture looks pretty good to me and i think I could make some money on it down the road...... No Pressure but keep me in mind if you have to sell... Grampa...:thumb:
Hey Tim, I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but our own Tom B (Dr. Thomas Bush) wrote the introduction for a new book A Registry Of Die Varieties Of Reeded Edge Half Dollars 1836-1839 by Dick Graham Maybe he will weigh in with his opinion on your coin.
