The photos have been juiced ( or at least not color balanced) towards blue. NGC slabs are pure white. so the coin is almost certain to be far less colored. I think it was a market not acceptable decision, as I have seen others similar in a regular slab. Silver war nickels tone nice sometimes.
I think you are right. I believe the Artificial Toning designation means that the coin has been Artificially Toned, but lets wait for the experts to chime in
I think there's a strong possibility NGC would grade this as uncirculated details, artificial toning. Just a hunch.
There is one guy on e-bay that sells AT morgans. Mostly common dates and even explains that it is electrical in nature rather then chemical. While i don't think I would pay $50 for a common date morgan some of them were very nice. Some collectors actualy like the AT coins but I think I'll stick to NT.
Er semi-sarcasm there lol... I just find it funny or ironic or whatever that someone decided to point out the coin is artificially toned when the picture clearly shows the coin in a slab that clearly says so already. Can't really claim the seller was trying to deceive anyone that the toning was real when he made no effort to hide the fact that NGC already said it wasn't. I see no moral, ethical, or legal dilemma in selling an artificially toned coin as long as you disclose that's what it is. Some would have no problem buying it anyway.
