So I have a chance to purchase 9 California fractional gold coins and I need some help!

I'm not sure if these guys are all real. If a few aren't I'm not buying any.

Here's a picture: waiting on a picture of the reverse sides

If they don't have the denomination written on them ("DOL", "1/2 DOL", "50 CENTS" or something similar) then they are likely reproductions. Similarly, if they have a bear motif to them then they are also likely reproductions. The reverse will tell you more.

Yeah that's what I've read, is there anything else to look for?

Are there any authentic cal. Gold coins with bears on the reverse or are all bear reverseses fakes?

Here's the pic that the owner just sent me:

He said their all basically the same.

I'm guessing fake due to the lack of values on the coins?

These are modern reproductions (not from the 1850s-1870s). They are also not coins. I do not know of any authentic, contemporary Cal gold fractionals that featured a bear motif.

I believe there is only one variety that does not have a denomination on it, and there is NO genuine piece that has the bear on it.
