Assistance in grading 1941s quarters I have a few coins that I'm thinking about submitting for grading, and I'd like thoughts. I'll post the obverse first, and if any of them seem worthwhile (say, over MS62), then I'll post the reverse. The token is just thrown in to see how it would grade. I'm not planning to submit that, more trying to grasp token grading. Thanks! Also, if you need me to remove a coin from the flip for the reverse, I'll take a better obverse pic, too. I just don't see a point if the grade is clearly not MS62 or better in your collective opinions.
I don't think the quarters are worth submitting even though some may go over MS62. Not sure about the first piece.
Which would you say would grade over MS62? I'm considering submission, because, according to this page, there are only two submitted: http://www.pcgs.com/Cert/25102806/ I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding the page, and the intention is to say there are two submitted at XF45 or two total.
The page that you are reading is stating that the PCGS certified population in EF45 is two; it is not saying that only two have been certified. It is also stating that it is the large S variety, which I do not know carries any premium at all. To me, the Washington quarters look like bullion value coins, unless they are S-mint, and would not be worth certifying.
It seems that I worded my thread horribly. I was hoping to get opinions on grades, as I plan to sub coins that are MS-63 or better.
according to the professional grading guide a little more then 2700 p have been graded and the average grade is 65.4 if that helps.
Thanks. This is the most useful information that I've taken from this thread so far, but I'm asking about s coins, not p. What is the PGG? Is it a book/magazine/site?
You would get more clear answers if you wrote in your title "1941-S" instead of "1941s" since it can be interpreted that you are refering to multiple 1941 coins. This interpretation is reinforced by seeing the obverses of several 1941 quarters.
I wouldn't bother submitting them. Only submit if you want to make sure they're authentic or the value is well over $100, where grading it makes it easier to get appraised for insurance reasons, etc. Other than that, these would look better in a Dansco album. You'll likely spend more money getting them graded than what they're worth as the final graded outcome.
no problem same book ms 65 is worth 70 and ms 66 is at 200.ms 67 at heritage realized 1955 in feb of 07,but i believe the strike was exceptional if the bidder knew anything.
Thanks green. Tom B was actually very helpful in a secondary thread that I started since I mistitled this one.
