My grandfather William Evans, passed away after a bicycle accident in Tucson Arizona this morning (he went out doing what he loved to do). He was born in 1933. Before he gave me my first silver dollar 20+ years ago, a circulation coin to me was only to be converted into a piece of candy. I single handedly owe him for every piece of my Love for numismatics and treasure in the form of coins. He left behind a beautiful woman in my grandmother and 3 kids, 6 grandkids & 1 great grandkid. He gave me many things in the physical form (coins, gold & notes), but the greatest thing he gave me will be with me until the day that I check out of this place. I love you Gramps :w8v4:

P.S. PLEASE POST pictures of your Gold Coins in his memory, he loved and collected U.S. Double Eagles!

I'm sorry for your loss. I worry a bit about the risks of biking, but I'd love to imagine that I'll sill be doing it when I'm a great-grandfather. (A bit of a stretch, since I'm unlikely to see great-grandkids before my 90s.) Thanks for the inspirational story.

    My condolences Erik,

My grandfather passed away some years ago. When ever I think about him I miss him but I have all that he left behind and that is the memories that I have.

My condolences Erik. My Grandfather got me started in coin collecting as well. The hobby itself has been one of the greatest gifts he passed on to me. I've attached a couple of gold coins in he passed on to me in honor of both our grandfathers.

I'm sorry for your loss. While my grandfather didn't get me started collecting directly, he did get my dad started, and it was my dad who got me collecting.

That's a shame, sorry to hear. I don't own any gold, or I'd post it.

Very sorry for your loss. How about some CC gold:

Because grandfathers truly are golden. Mine passed away when I was 13, but I remember him fondly - driving tractors, his truck for rides in the mountains etc. When life has been through rough patches I have felt his presence.

Sorry for your loss! I've come to hate bicycles, my father was hit and killed on one as well as a friend.
