i have been looking for weeks trying t0 find a star note valuation site. i want to find out what districts are more valuable and so on. could someone please help? i would greatly appreciate it. ty
Unfortunately that can be a loaded question. It is all dependent on the runs, size of the runs (for those who collect runs), total number printed, total printed by denomination, and so on. This website is a good start for the rarer runs, but also look at the table to see how many total were printed: http://www.mycurrencycollection.com/reference/stars/ Also, this website will give you a greater understanding of the printing numbers as a whole: http://www.uspapermoney.info/serials/f2009_s.html
I do not know of an online website that mimicks the currency price guides. Like Matt has said, there are websites that referrence amounts printed and run sizes, but for values, nothing beats an up to date pricing guide. Sometimes you are better off buying the book.
i have stumbled across those 2. i am looking more for something that says a boston note with 00 is x-x and new york note is x-x. something silimiar to this http://www.coinsite.com/html/uspapermoneyprices(sm).asp
I would really reccomend "The Collector's Guide to Modern FRN's 1963 -2009 $1 - $100" by Robert Azpiazu in addition. Authors website: http://www.fstctycurr.com/
At any given point in time.. Banknotes that are collectible can have a significant range. Deman is always a price driver, scarcity is to, however, condition, scarcity and demand is what makes a note attractive to a buyer. When I collected, condition was the number 1 influence for my purchase of the note. Now thats just me.. everyone is different and that is to be expected. So do your research and look at recent auctions, past auctions population reports and make the assessment for yourself. What I would pay and what someone else would pay may be to different things altogether.
