Recent dates are normally only worth face in that condition. You might be able to get a bit more on ebay but with fees it probably won't be worth your time. You do want to check the size of each print run, some of the smaller runs might still have a premium (off the top of my head I don't know which ones)

2004 K note is from a small run, not sure if it would have a premium or not.

Hello Jason. Your question "what are my notes worth ?" comes up fairly often, and all anyone can do is guess. Even if we go through the motions of consulting a guide, or checking recent auction archives for notes in similar condition we are still guessing. If I tell you I think your 2006 $5 Chicago Star is worth $8 to $10 and some bidder really loves it and buys it for $20 then I look like an idiot.
If you really want to know what they are worth, then try to sell them, and take offers. Coin Talk has a For Sale forum that costs you zero in sellers fees, or you could sell them on eBay. Selling them on eBay gets you a lot more eyes looking at the notes, but along with that you have sellers fees. Another question that comes up around here, much too often, is "should I keep this note? "........this is more opinion based then the guessing based question of worth. If I collect large-size Nationals, and you ask if a 2006 $5 Chicago Star note in VF condition is a keeper then I would say no. Other collectors that do collect modern-era, circulation star note finds would say Yes, keep it.

Do you want my opinion or my guess ?

I would keep the EK-* $20 and I can't believe no body said to keep the $5 IG-*, despite them having 4 640k runs, they are tough to find.

Post #5 by silentnviolent said he would keep it.

Maybe nobody else mentioned keep it because Jason asked "what are they worth ?"

I was specifically referring to the 2 posts that said to keep the $20 EK because it's from a short run and I didn't notice silent's post.

Jason, for future reference, you can use this invaluable website to give you quick information on stars in an easy to read/use format: http://www.mycurrencycollection.com/reference/stars/

As for value, I've sold a few modern stars in much better condition to dealers, but they only pay a dollar or two above face.

not to get too far off point here, but does anyone know when mycurrencycollection is going live with the new site? i'm itching to get my star collection catalogued somewhere other than a notepad and a series of envelopes.

i would love it if a person could cross-reference the mcc star note production tables with a list of their own collection.
