I love these and they both take center stage in my collection.

Very nice coins! I'd love to have one of those. What the heck is going on in the 5 of 1805? It looks like there's a die crack or overdate or something.

Yes, Its an 1805/4 overdate...kind of hard to find. I think the overton no. is O-102 but I can't swear to it due to the crack at star 7.

Those are some sweet bust halves. I just bought an 1817 from someone who "knows nothing about coins", and the picture on ebay looks like it is an 1817/3.

I love draped bust halves. I'm curious as to what anacs graded your bust as. I'm guessing 20, and if that is the case I would agree. :)

The only problem with draped bust halves, is I can't find any for less than several hundred dollars :(

Very nice looking coins, I also like the bust coins. By the way the pics are excellent, I'm still trying to get consistant coin pics. Thanks for sharing.:thumb:

I'm guessing they knocked it down a bit for the old cleaning. I would recommend trying to get that coin upgraded if you ever plan on selling it. :) I think it would grade a 20 without too much trouble, and at the very least a 15.

    DJP7x0s Sometimes Coins Arouse Me

Hey I have a good story to tell. I am really into coinsand was looking at some of the coins my uncle has, he had some good stuff, noting that really jumped out at me. Anyhow, I looked at his stuff and then he pulled out a little box, said it was my little cousins coins that her grandfather(Ritzo) left her when he passed away. I didnt expect to see much, cause I knew Ritzo didnt collect coins. Anyhow, I was shocked to open the box and find 6 solid rolls of just Bust half dollars. Some real early ones too. and they were in great shape. so 6 rolls is 120 coins, WOW!!! Shes got better coins than I do, and she hasnt even seen them yet. Shes still too young to even appreciate them. Oh and there was alot of other great coins i the box. Some flowing hair large cents and alot of 20 cent pieces. Everything that I have none of.

Here are the ANA grading criteria for F12 and for VF20 - you decide which one applies most closely.

    F12 - Obverse
Some details show in the hair ends and curls and at the left of ear. Date, all letters and stars are weak. The eye and eyebrow are clear. Bust is worn with few drapery lines remaining.

    Reverse
Half of the feathers are visible in wings. Breast and head are smooth. Letters in legend are worn but clear. Clouds and top of shiled show considerable wear.

    VF20 - Obverse
More than half of the details still show in hair. Forehead and bust are worn but bold. Parts of the drapery are smooth. Every letter and star is plainly visible.

    Reverse
Head and breast are worn, but some feathers are visible. Some lines in shield are merged together. About three quarters of the details in wings are clear.
