I found this in a box of foreign coins given to me by my great aunt, years ago. It kind of looks like an ancient roman coin with emperor constantine on it. But I haven't been able to find anything like it on the net. Anybody know if this is real or fake? Thanks.
Sorry to say it doesn't look like a real Constantine coin.I've never seen a reverse like that.It might be a souvenir reproduction of some kind.If you scroll through this page, you'll see what I mean. http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/constantine/t.html
I am not an ancient coin expert but if the coin is made of gold, it is most likely genuine. If you can weigh it accurately and give us the diameter and thickness, we can roughly calculate the specific gravity to determine if it has gold content.
Sorry. I misplaced my digital scale when I moved several months ago, and can't find it. But I'm pretty sure it is not gold. I was thinking maybe bronze, or something like that. But I think Mikjo0 is right. Its probably a reproduction.
Hello, The style is very odd, and the letters especially on the reverse are not good at all. Cucumbor
