Can anyone evaluate the price of the coin? Is it fake? Thank you for your help! Edit: Thanks for your help! I bought it, I will upload my own photos when it arrives. -Images removed-
This token was designed by Thomas Wyon and struck by Peter Kempson in Birmingham, It predates the "halfcent," which was modeled on this piece. Although i dont know if yours is genuine or not?
If that coin is real it is worth over $1,000. It looks authentic to me, but I will let someone else have the final say as I'm not 100% sure. http://images.goldbergauctions.com/php/lot_auc.php?site=1&sale=10&lot=88
Eventually the weight of the token could become a factor, as original was copper based, and copies are usually made of a different metal/mix. The only large difference that jumps out to me is the die gouge on the coat of Washington that is very obvious in the Goldberg auction , and a trace is seen in the PCGS worn one, but not visible to me in the original photos of yours. Due to the scarcity of these, I suspect only 1 obverse die was used?? Maybe not, but it would demand an authentication by PCGS or equal for a buy, IMO. Welcome to the forum! Jim
