So as I state with my posts, I'm a beginner that's learning about coins. I got 1971 S from a roll from a local bank. The 7 seems to be bending in a forward fashion. What kind of an error is this and does it have possible value? Thanks.
Good eye, interesting! But I think it's post mint damage - looks like the 7 was hit hard at the base and pushed to the left. Anyone have a different theory?
I see lots of circulation damage to the coin too. But the 7 shows no type of circulation action that would cause the tail of the 7 to curve forward from what I see. In the enlarged picture, if you look close, it looks like a miniature 7 was stamped on top of the 9, anyone else see it? What is IMO? Thanks.
Pmd. Copper is relatively soft and portions of the details can be moved. In this case it was probably struck by the crimper on the coin roller/wrapper.
