Actually, this is a relevant topic because academics have studied the likelihood of this doomsday scenario and place it above 20% for this century, from what I recall. Obviously, food and medicine would be a priority over silver and gold. Because in this scenario humans are likely to survive and reproduce, gold and silver would be used as currency among the (possibly few) survivors.
What about post-nuclear coins. They'll have a reverse grading system based on how many nuke war rads a coin is giving off. So rad1 will be the same as MS70 and rad70 will be glow-art. And people can stretch the grade by claiming: "well actually, most of those rads are just pre-nuke war global warming sun rays, actually." "Buy the coin not the rads."
I've decided to give up coin collecting, and am selling all my stuff for face on craigslist with blurry pictures and everything. FAlso, for all my fellow can collectors, I have started a new forum called "Cantalk". Join today! (this is a joke btw in case you didn't figure that out by "I've")
Your trying to start a post nuclear war cold war between coin collectors and can collectors. "We'll bury you!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-er3fkMnFYY
Yes I once posted here a government website link where you can buy (with an application and license) Plutonium coins (or rounds). The post is gone, the website is gone.... poof.
If it happens and I’m close enough to have to worry about it, I don’t necessarily want to survive. Then again, with a 20% chance of it happening, I’m not really concerned with preparing for it.
