Are they grading the 2006 Buffalo gold proof coin? I don't know if that company works with gold coins. Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply. I didn't see any on Ebay unless I'm not looking in the right spot.

Does a person have to be a dealer to submit to PCGS? Thanks again.

I don't see any either, but I know that they have been listed in the numismatic press as using the first strike designation on them (just like everyone else).

No, but you do have to join their exclusive club to submit to them directly. IIRC it costs about $100 per year.

This is lifted from ANACS website, talking about the requirements for a coin to receive the first strike designation:

I decided to go with PCGS. I joined on their website tonight, the silver membership for $49.95. I can submit as many coins as I want and when I want. Looks like a good deal. Now I have to wait til next payday to submit some coins, LOL.

I looked on the pcgs website and it said you can have the coins graded through a local coin dealer. Ive never had a coin graded before but am
thinking of having the 20th anniversary gold set done. Has anyone gone
through a dealer to do this and do you think this is a good ideal. thanks

The thing about somebody else sending them in is if they have the same coin or coins exactly like yours. They will most likely give you the lower graded coins and they will keep the better ones. I just don't trust "somebody else" sending them in for me. Thats why I joined PCGS myself for $50 a year. I know for a fact that I will get back the exact same coin I sent in returned to me. Dealers can do it but I would be very cautious about it.

That is where you must have some trust---if you don't trust the person to send it in then I wouldn't go to them for anything---but most of the time we collectors have a dealer or two that we can trust and if we trust them then I would send them in with a dealer....they aren't going to risk their job and good name for just a few coins.
I have sent in a few coins through dealers and myself and have never had a problem.
