OK, I got in on this thread very late, but I thought this might be worth posting even now, my 1944 D/D RPM FS-502.

Back in the early and mid 2000's I'd often find 2-3 (98's and 00's) per $25 box.... I use to search a $25 box per week ("every week"), probably for 3-4 years before life got too busy and eyes got a bit frayed. Ended up with roughly a roll of each 98's and 00's, just from roll searching... maybe more. Have sold all of them except for 3-4 of each frorm each year. Had to break down and buy a 99.... I think Badness and maybe a couple of others in the forum landed that whale from rolls.. lucky rats ! Essentially all my profits from the two rolls I found went into the 99,,, but the moral is still that the work I did searching essentially paid for the 99. Hard work helps you keep the investment side of you collection achievable.

Anyway, to answer your question based on what I see in boxes that I search now, probably 2-3 per year at the most now....... I'd guess if you searched 8 boxes ($200, 20k currently circulating cents), I'd bet you find at least one 1 98 or 00 WAM. That said, they are drying up quickly from what I seen over the past decade of playing around in rolls.

In Cincinnati I'd find 1 about every 6 boxes. I've heard of people on the left coast NEVER finding a single WAM, not even a 2000. Oddly, for me, I've found more 98's than 2000's, yet the 2000's are considered the most adundant.

Actually, I've been VERY lucky and found two 1999 WAM's. I'll be posting them soon! One I sent to NGC and got a 65RD, I then sold it for $550. The second one I found in my friends change stash, it's about a 63/64 and I kept it raw for my collection.

Time for some more catching up! I pulled out a few more and took pics. Here's a 1975 toner and a 76 woody:

Here's a frosty 83D. I have a tough time photographing bright, PL coins!

Pretty nice 85 set, the P is PL....gave me a hard time trying to capture the mirrored surfaces.

Here's a very PL 1991, again, VERY hard to capture the PL surfaces on this....I moved the lighting around a bit to try.

All super niiiiiiiice! I was just into my safe, but did not get any of my older cents out. I will look for a few I have outside the safe (because my safe is at a different location).

Picked up about 45 of these one night about 3 years back at a pizza place while picking up dinner. Sometimes it pays not to have it delivered.

From a mint set. The '99D looks almost proof-like in hand - the '99P has a colorful reverse.

Whao....NGC is crazy giving that WAM a 67! The 65 I found was nicer, I'll post it tonight.

The 99D is the BOMB.....very nice coin!
