Can anyone chime in with some info and value. This is a tough piece for me too find. Only thing I found on it was the second picture below. Thanks Ken
If you googled, you may already have seen this: http://www.collectors-society.com/JournalDetail.aspx?JournalEntryID=10977
That was interesting. It took a minute to find the previous journal entry, which shows the altered medal.. http://www.collectors-society.com/JournalDetail.aspx?JournalEntryID=10919
I have one similar: California Diamond Jubilee 1925 Medal CALIFORNIA DIAMOND JUBILEE 1925 WHITEHEAD HOAG / SAN FRANCISCO Whitehead & Hoag was a company which manufactured medallions and tokens. Metal: Brass Size: 32mm Weight: 10.43gm I bought it for $12 at a coin show in July 2012. I didn't know it was rare or anything about it, I live in California and I just liked the look of it.
I have a similar piece. Oddly, the Whitehead & Hoag stamp is in a different location on the back. It appears to be gilt, with the gilding wearing off in some areas of the reverse (or only incidentally applied). Any idea what these are worth?
My grandparents went to the world's fair in California and our family found a brass medallion with the same markings on it as the jubliee EXCEPT instead of the words at the top a marking of the golden gate is at the top. What is it worth and from?
