Hello, everyone. I found this nickel in my cash drawer at work, i'll explain each error i found. On the reverse is the main object, there is a indent that doesnt appear to have been made by anything rough like a stone, so I thought it might be a Die Error like a Grease Error. Second thing is that all the text is rough, badly struck and some of the text on the reverse appears faint, but not like its been worn away, also resembles a grease error, atleast what iv seen when searching examples. Third thing is a mark that almost crossed the whole back, straight through Monticello, it might be ordinary damage but its clean, no edges like a scrape or cut might make. Ill upload pics so everyone can see, hope they are good enough, its hard to take quality pics.
I figured the line wasnt anything special, what can you tell me about the text, if its clear enough that is?
If it is a planchet error, it could bring a slight premium to a collector of such errors. Rarity, again if it is a planchet error, it is on the rare side, but rarity does no necessarily translate into price. As to price, I couldn't venture a guess except perhaps $5-$10 (that would be my off the cuff guess). I would put it in a 2X2 and put it with the rest of my collection.
Ill definitely place it in a flip, I only asked a value for the **** of it, I have no intention of selling it, its just a nice oddity. Thanks alot for the info, maybe one day ill have it graded. ****=H.E.LL this thing censored it
You could check it against other 'struck through' errors to determine what others are selling for. on e-bay
