1959 penny with 9 error

    Hi

    I came across a 1959 penny which the 9 on 1959 is closed and also the 9 is stamped straight down with no curve. See picture. This is the best I could do just to give you an idea. I checked ebay and there are no pennies with this error for sale. What do you think?

    It looks to me like there is just some damage at the 9.

    I thought so too. However, there are no marks to the right that would indicate a strike of some kind. I will see if I could take a close up.

    It's damage from a coin roller. This is quite common and you'll see a lot of coins with damage on either the last numbers of the date or the "LI" in "LIBERY".
