I ordered the ASE set on Aug 30th and the Mint shows the items backordered with an expected shipping date of 12/8/06. I ordered the AGE set after it was sold out but before they quit taking orders and the Mint shows it backordered too with an expected shipping date of 9/20/06. I can understand the AGE set being backordered, but not the ASE as it is not yet sold out based on several posting I have read. Does anyone have an explanation for this?
It's my understanding that the Mint automatically puts all orders into "backordered" status in kind of a holding pattern until they have the coins to ship. It also says on the website that they do it to verify that the number of sets ordered doesn't exceed the household limit.
I never order online as I don't use credit cards but I need one of these sets and I think if I mail it then it wouldn't get there in time. I don't think these set are going to go up in value---just because I'm buying them But I think I'll try to talk my sister into letting me use her card so I can do it online--- Speedy
Well I got my order in.....I only got 1 but my Bro-in-law and dad also got one----I told them they would go down in value but they didn't listen Speedy
Thats my line - I have been using it for years with coins and the stock market. The best advice I have is never buy what I buy. I got two of the 3 coin silver sets and I think one of the two coin gold and silver set. Now I just have to figure out how to pay for them(plus the san fran coins). Good thing I have a credit card.
