I bought this coin for nearly double greysheet today, as I disagree with the grade on the holder. I'm interested to see what all of you think.

Woah Big Z, That's a Pristeen Gorgeous coin! MS-67/68 is what is deserves. It probably was graded MS-64.

    Good Luck

Minimum MS66. I own silver eagles graded MS69 that are only marginally better than this.

[edit - keeping in mind that my grading skills above AU are somewhat weak]

Nice looking Morgan.I'd say MS66 at the highest. There's some too much rim damage to go higher IMO.

At least a 66. A very strong strike (esp for an O), nearly flawless on the surface. Could easily go to 67 or higher if the eye-appeal is there too (tough to tell from pics).

    Nice coin!

Very clean face , limited dings . should fetch MS65 with a shot at 66.

I guess high end 66 with a shot at 67. Hard to tell without coin in hand. I guess ngc graded it at ms-66.
    Nice coin whatsoever.

For an O mint coin this is a killer IMHO---I'm guessing NGC graded it? :D I won't tell Mr Hall on you :)
My grade MS65/6---the lighting on this photo might be covering some marks on the face---I can't tell....its a killer coin for sure.

I'd say it's a 65 and probably slabbed the same.

Thanks for the opinions everyone. It is in a NGC 64 slab, and I felt that the coin was a 65. The coin has wonderful luster, a monster strike, and out of ngc and pcgs, there are no 1880-o's graded higher than a 65.

Post a pic of the slab Zane. I'm curious to see how old it is.

Doug, I haven't seen too many NGC slabs, butt I think this one was graded sometime after 2000. Here is a picture of the cert. I can't see any signs of surface alteration or cleaning, tooling etc.

It was slabbed 2001 or later. I'm kinda surprised actually because I think the coin is a lock for 65, a bit older and I would have expected the 64. You might want to cross that one to PCGS if ya ever decide to sell it, I have little doubt it would upgrade there. NGC would be pretty iffy as they seldom upgrade.

I wonder how many times that coin was dipped to be that brilliant white? ;)

Oh, and it looks a solid 65 IMO.

The surfaces have 65 or 66 written all over them. If NGC graded it 64, I would wager it was because of the dipping robbing it of luster...Mike

whatever it is 65/66 it definately needs a star as it has startling eye appeal.
