Could you please tell us what the writing says on it? It would be much easier to locate it if I had that info.
I have a hunch that it could be from a medallic series commemorating Dukes of Lorraine. But without the legend, or at least a clearer picture, I can't say.
my great aunt gave me a gold plated penny, a 1961 BF half, a 1976 2 dollar bill, and a 1976 ike dollar
At first glance it resembles a fuzzy, out-of-focus Elizabeth I of England. In any event, you should not be handling it barehanded except by the edge, as fingerprints can greatly devalue a coin or medal.
It is a medal of Charles IX and Elizabeth of France; they were married in 1570, and he died in 1574, so these must have been originally made sometime between those dates. Yours is most likely a later reproduction.
Not without doing some intensive research, and your medal is not nearly worth that investment of time. But the strike (or cast?) of yours is very rough, and the metal appears to be incorrect as well. So, most likely a later reproduction.
Sometimes if you Google search the words on the coin or medal, you can find links to information about the item.
