Hello all, Iam posting to figure out where you all get your peace dollars? Edited to conform to forum rules. Anyways, i looked on EBAY and sites similar but all of them are a bit over priced and if they are not then the shipping sets them over. So where do you guys get your Peace dollars? Peter
When I get Peace Dollars I get them from dealers---or such things as Auctions----or such. Ebay and online dealers is the place I would look----I don't know what you are wanting to spend but I would say that about $12-$20 for a Peace Dollar is about right. you might want to go to ..... www.vtcoins.com This is a dealer that I know and would suggest to anyone---he might have something you are looking for. Speedy
Speedy, Thank you, iam going to have o go and visit a cois shop. I think that website is a bit pricy, not in general but for me right now. I have about 30 dollars and i just want a few peace dollars at the moment. Gonna go to find a shop. Thanks. Peter
Hey Peter I know how you feel---with silver up most dealers aren't going to have alot of Peace Dollars much cheaper than the dealer I posted about. What grades are you looking for??...then maybe I can find another dealer that would have more for what your looking for. Speedy
Speedy, Iam just looking for any grade that is at a cheap price. Iam just trying to get a "floor set" if u will. Meaning iam just trying to get all dates and mintmarks then ill spend the bigger bucks to upgrade my set to higher standards. So to anwser your Question..any grade..the more peace dollars the happier i will be! (quantity more than quality right now) Peter
There are a couple for 18-30 bucks on that site, but I dont think you could get more than one with 30 dollars. -Rob
I agree that with silver being at $12 right now $18 is going to be pretty cheap---I was thinking about $12-$15 but I hadn't remembered what was silver----the cheapest way would be to look through junk silver for coins but it would still be over SPOT price.... Speedy
I've bought from these guys before. You ought to be able to get 2 from them if you don't mind XF or so. http://www.mintproducts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=666
If grade or cleaning doesn't matter, try a local coin shop and ask them. They might be happy to give you three for $30 of the low grade coins just to get them out of inventory and potentially land you as a new customer. It never hurts to ask, particularly if you honestly tell them what you are trying to do.
so the $20 each at the antique store wasn't a bad price...? (I am blaming you all for this Peace Dollar infatuation of mine right now)
Hey Vroomer---Depending on the grades and the date $20 isn't such a bad deal anymore---when silver was $4/ounce I would say that you could have done better but not now Speedy
Ok, Heres what iam thinking, Iam going to go to a store maybe 15 minutes from my town and look through the junk box and see what i can find. I think i will have more luck that way. Peter
That sounds like a good idea to me. Also, I see that you are located in new england. I'm sure there are probably some good coin shows up your way. I would check those out. You get a chance to see many dealers in one place, and there is alot of competition among them. I usually get better deals at the shows.
